Y's Therapeutics Appoints Elizabeth Squiers, MD,
FACS as Vice President for Clinical and Regulatory Affairs
Tokyo, Japan - Aug 9, 2005 - Y's Therapeutics Co., Ltd, a privately held biopharmaceutical company, announced today that Elizabeth C. Squiers, MD, FACS has joined the management team, as Vice President of its US subsidiary, Y's Therapeutics, Inc. Dr. Squiers has diverse clinical training and expertise in immunology and transplant science, and has more than 10 years of clinical development management experience in biotech companies including Sangstat Medical Corporation, Genzyme Corporation and Thios Pharmaceuticals, Inc. She will be responsible for clinical and regulatory affairs for the Y's group.

Dr. Squiers was most recently Vice President of Clinical Development at Thios Pharmaceuticals, Inc, where she was responsible for clinical development and regulatory efforts including filing an IND, CRO selection, and trial start-up activities. Prior to that, Dr. Squiers was providing consulting to several biotechnology firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. She also spent some time at Sangstat Medical Corporation, where she held multiple positions as Senior Director of Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Global Pharmacovigilance. When Sangstat Medical Corporation was acquired by Genzyme Corporation, Dr. Squiers joined as Vice President of Clinical Affairs, responsible for the integration of the ongoing clinical projects as well as filing 2 INDs.
Dr. Squiers received her BS in science from Pennsylvania State University, and her MD from Jefferson Medical College. She has also served as a principle investigator for phase II and III studies and basic research for NCEs when she was Director of the Multiorgan Transplant Program, and Associate Professor at Health Science Center (State University of New York) located at Syracuse, NY.
