Y's Therapeutics announces FDA acceptance of IND to conduct Phase I clinical trial for YSCMA in the USA
Tokyo, Japan, and Burlingame, CA -February 13th, 2008-
Y’s Therapeutics, a privately held biopharmaceutical company, announced that the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted its Investigational New Drug (IND) application to conduct
a Phase I clinical trial for YSCMA.
YSCMA is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeted for the treatment of solid tumors and hematological cancers.
The target antigen, CD26 is a transmembrane glycoprotein found on some solid tumors such as malignant mesothelioma,
lung, prostate, liver, and ovarian cancers. The target is found to be upregulated in activated malignancies.
Multiple biological functions of the target antigen have been identified including T-cell activation, processing of
biological factors, interaction with extracellular matrix, and tumor development.
The humanized monoclonal antibody selected for further development has demonstrated antitumor activity in mouse
xenograft models with cell lines derived from T-cell Lympoma, malignant mesothelioma, etc.
A Phase I clinical trial plans to begin in USA in April 2008 and the results of the trial are expected to
be completed in March 2010.
